The Blanc De Hotot rabbit, a larger variant of the well-known Dwarf Hotot, originated in France and weighs up to 11 lbs. These adorable rabbits are exclusively white in color and have a gentle nature, making them suitable for families. The breed’s history dates back to 1902 when Eugenie Bernhard, chatelaine du Calvados, developed it by crossbreeding a Papillon with a White Vienna and White Flemish Giant over two decades. Despite facing near extinction during World War II, the Blanc De Hotot was reintroduced to the United States in 1978 by Bob Whitman, who imported eight rabbits from France. The American Rabbit Breeders Association recognized the breed in 1979, reinstating its name as Blanc De Hotot in 2006.
